When you arrive, an usher will greet you at the door and hand you
a bulletin. The bulletin contains everything you need to follow
order of service, and the hymns for the day.
When we gather
Divine Service — Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Midweek service — Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The Sunday service runs approximately seventy minutes. If you
are bringing children, the full service is for the whole family.
Where we are
Immanuel Lutheran Church
8538 North 500 East
Decatur, in 46733
Parking
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the church building.
Additional parking is available along the drive.
What to expect
The service will feel ordered and unhurried. We use a historic
liturgical form, the same basic structure that Lutheran
congregations have used for centuries. There will be singing,
Scripture readings, a sermon, and the Lord’s Supper. For a fuller
description, see our worship.
If you have children
Children are welcome in the service. A crying or restless child
is not a disruption. It is the sound of the next generation in
the house of God. If you need to step out briefly, there is a
narthex (entryway) where you can still hear the service.
The Lord’s Supper
We practice close communion at Immanuel. If you are a member of
this congregation or a congregation in fellowship with the
lcms, you are welcome at the table. If
you are visiting from outside our fellowship and would like to
speak with the pastor about communing, please introduce yourself
before the service. Visitors who are not communing are warmly
invited to come forward for a spoken blessing.
After the service
Stay after the service and introduce yourself to the pastor,
or to anyone around you.
