Immanuel Lutheran Church exists to bring the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ to bear in the community where Christ has planted us. Immanuel House was established in 2009 as a means of providing necessities: clothing and household items for those in need in our community. These items are available to anyone who needs them, and monetary donations help provide them at no cost to those with the greatest need.
How to receive help
Immanuel House is open Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Individuals and families may shop for clothing or household items once a calendar month, and may take a limited quantity of items free of charge for themselves and their household. No appointment or paperwork is required.
How to donate
Bring your donation to Immanuel House and place it in the designated drop-off area, which is accessible at any hour. Please do not leave donations outside. If you have a question about a particular donation, call (260) 724-2226.
To help us serve our community well, please ensure that donated items are not soiled or damaged (no stains, holes, tears, missing buttons, or broken zippers) and are free of animal and smoke odors.
We gratefully accept monetary donations during business hours. These allow us to purchase what is needed but not received in kind.
What we accept
Brand new or gently used, freshly laundered men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, along with handbags, school supplies, winter coats and jackets, hats, and gloves. Donated underwear and socks must be new, in their original packaging or with the tags attached.
Other acceptable donations include bath towels, bed linens, cookware, and small kitchen appliances such as toasters and blenders, along with personal hygiene products: shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and soap.
What we cannot accept
We try to make everything you generously donate available to our shoppers, but there are some things we ask you not to bring, whether because we have limited space, for legal or sanitary reasons, or because of their condition.
These include electronics such as computers, furniture, mattresses, pillows, cribs, car seats, strollers, cassettes and VHS tapes, tools, picture frames, artwork, vacuum cleaners, books for adults, mirrors, and used personal hygiene products. Please also keep back anything that smells of smoke or other strong odors, or that is covered with animal hair.
